Nana’s Peanut Butter Pie Recipe is smooth, creamy, and easy to make. Perfect for those “I need a good dessert recipe now” moments.
This Peanut Butter Pie recipe has been made many times in our family. My sister-in-law’s mama (Nana to everyone who knows her) made it for special occasions. Nana gave me this recipe years ago. It’s in her handwriting tucked away in a little box I keep for very special recipes. This smooth and creamy peanut butter treat is easy to make and is made with ingredients that are easy to find. It’s the perfect peanut butter pie recipe for those last minute get-togethers or “a just because” treat and we’re going to make it together so let’s gather the ingredients.
Peanut Butter Pie Recipe
Ingredients:
- 8 oz package cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 cup confectioners sugar (powdered sugar)
- a 1/2 cup milk
- 8 oz container Cool Whip, thawed
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
Mixing the Ingredients for Peanut Butter Pie:
We start the recipe by placing the room temperature cream cheese and peanut butter in a large bowl. Beat the two ingredients together until well incorporated. Sift the powdered sugar and add it to the cream cheese and peanut butter mixture. Add the milk to the bowl and beat it until well incorporated.
Fold the thawed Cool Whip into the mixture. Looking at how fluffy the filling is makes me think…why couldn’t I use this to make a parfait?? No reason what so ever why you couldn’t.
After all the ingredients are well blended, spoon the filling into a 9-inch graham cracker crust ( pre-made or homemade, whichever you prefer) and top with a dollop of whipped cream. This pie is incredibly good just the way it is. But just like your favorite cake recipe, this peanut butter pie has delicious options.
Variations of the Recipe:
You can take a homemade cake recipe and change the frosting flavor or embellish it with decorations. I want you to think about this peanut butter pie in the same way. Here are a few options( and you know I love options) to make Nana’s Peanut Butter Pie just a tad different every time you make it.
- Use a chocolate cookie crust
- Crush chocolate cookies and sprinkle them over the top of the pie before serving it.
- Cut up your favorite chocolate candy bar into small pieces and sprinkle them over the pie before serving it.
- Make chocolate whipped cream to top the dessert with.
- Sprinkle with chocolate jimmies before serving
Nana’s Peanut Butter Pie Recipe, delicious just the way it is but Kids, the option possibilities with this one are delicious, Enjoy!

I have been using this exact recipe for years! The only thing different is that after you make it you put it in the freezer and serve it frozen. Wonderful on a hot summer day.
